Description
The Quintet Blue is a very homogeneous insert

The sound image of the Quintet Blue will tend to have a smoother reproduction compared to the Quintet Red and a moderate dynamic force compared to the Quintet Bronze.

It features a Nude Eliptical diamond mounted on an aluminium bracket.

The Quintet Blue will bring more space, depth and detail to your sound and is a very good choice for all types of music, especially rhythmic music.

The ST-7 transformer is a perfect match for the MC Quintet Blue.

The LH-4000 head is particularly recommended for the MC Quintet series of keyboards.

Easy to use:

Mounting Quintet cartridges from above is easy and secure using the screws provided. The aluminium frame has threaded mounting holes and can be easily fitted with 5mm or 7mm screws depending on the thickness of the head.

The Quintet Series' straight angles, straight lines, needle visibility and large distance between the surface of the plate and the bottom of the insert make it easy to correctly mount and align the insert and arm. The Quintet series gives excellent results with most popular tonearms.

History of The Quintet

Nothing demonstrates Ortofon's long term resilience more than its commitment to excellence in analogue sound quality and its ongoing development of new cartridge models. Since 1948 Ortofon has introduced around 100 different models of Moving Coil. We believe that this new range of cartridges is a more than worthy successor to the long line of models that has made Ortofon the world leader in the manufacture and supply of phono cartridges.
The MC Quintet Series is the direct result of our continuous research and innovation

The MC Quintet Series is in line with Ortofon's unwavering commitment to provide the most precise and accurate reproduction possible without colouration:

Special thermoplastic ABS (Acrylonitrile/Butadiene/Styrene) is used for the body. This lightweight, impact-resistant material is ideal for injection moulding and provides a highly durable, scratch-resistant surface.
Neodymium magnets are used for optimum power output.
The low internal impedance makes the cartridge less sensitive to load, thus ensuring compatibility with the widest range of preamps and transformers.

Our goal is to provide our customers with many hours of new and surprising experiences while listening to their precious vinyl collection.
Each of the five Quintet Series cartridges has its own individual sonic expression, and all five models together represent a set of five classic variations:

MC Quintet Mono is a true monophonic cartridge for playing monophonic vinyl records with microgrooves
MC Quintet Red is a versatile cartridge which provides an open, dynamic sound with a hint of warmth
MC Quintet Blue adds more dynamics and resolution, sounds more open and gives more detail
MC Quintet Bronze adds even more detail and resolution, but in a very balanced way that respects all the elements
MC Quintet Black S is the best of everything, faithful to the rhythm with resolution and a thorough insight into each recording

Compatible with Rega TT / TA brand:

The height of REGA brand cartridges from the tip of the needle to the top surface of the cartridge mount is lower than standard. Therefore, spacers would be needed to ensure the correct alignment of the Ortofon cartridge. Read about insert configuration and arm alignment in our FAQ.
Adjusting the height of your Rega tonearm is easy with the Acoustic Signature pad set. It allows height adjustment from 0.5mm to 3.5mm in precise 0.5mm increments - without removing the tonearm. Simply loosen the screws, insert the AS spacer, then lock the screws back in place and you have an arm ready to play.
The 3.2 - 4 mm pads should be sufficient for the Quintet.
